Morning all - quite a bit harder today, but some very clever cluing!

Yes, this was quite good fun - and had some excellent clues. The only one I'm not sure of is 33 Down - does the last part of the preamble affect it?

yes the ist letter and the last 3 letters follow the rule

Going quite well but am now stuck. I have the theme + a few of the unclued but my "left middle" is a bit bare:
21a Recruits left in street without backing ?N???T? (not sure of the T)
24a Tree and bee in a game (7) I have some letters but they are "iffy" so won't confuse with them!
