chips

Am going out, so will need to see all the answers later. Here's what I've got...
1. Eclair (as earlier)
2. Eggcup - puce/purple, with gg/'gig' emptied.
3. I wanted this to be 'elegist' but it's too long.
4. Emasculate
5. Ennui (sounds, vaguely!, like 'in wee')
6. Estimate (anagram)
7. Eunomy (anagram of 'money'+ u/unknown) It doesn't appear in Chambers, so I've maybe made it up.

Is that the barrier you meant, you old Greek? When I saw Gray I immediately thought of churchyards.

lol...I was(and well you know it boy)referring to the fact that "gray" is a colour on your side of the pond...grey is the usual UK spelling.

Funny. I've ALWAYS spelled the color GREY- but never "color" with a U (a little too U)!
