Perhaps "chips" as carpenter is peculiar to this country?

I thought it was quite an unchallenging puzzle, particularly as all (most?) of the theme words were in Bradford's. I wasn't familiar with a couple of them.

Yes, not in the NA idiom.

Chambers (crossword) had all the terms.

An odd one, kangaroo:
