After 20 hours of almost non-stop conjecturing I now have all but 3+4d!Can it possibly be the corruption of a well-known Italian vegetable soup?Either I just can't see the individual bits or I am on a completely wrong track.PLEASE help me that tiny little bit more!

3/4 was my last entry also GK....earlier clue points you to English port...the "not to your taste" word(3) is normally spelt ?I??A

24a Is there an anagram here?

16d Is the murderer Cain?

Don't you hate it when people ask questions about ones you have got? I have most of the top half, but am struggling on the lower part. Yes, there's clearly an anagram in 24/9, but is it one or two words? Not that that will be too much help. I originally thought the second word was Anderson, but am not so sure now.
