After I'd sussed (if I have) Wellington, I thought about Napoleon Bonaparte, but I couldn't get it from the letters. If the answers are all 2-lettered, doesn't it mean that the names must contain an even number of letters?

Yes, and that's my problem because if my maths if correct they add up to 27 !!

Yes, so therefore it can't be Napoleon Bonaparte and Wellington cs that's only 27 letters.

Am still convinced it's Napoleon Bonaparte though.

Have (virtually) lost the will to live now.
