Hi Jazzgirl,

If you're still stuck on 8a, scroll down to the thread which was started by Dustbin Lid and you'll find that I've given some assistance with that answer.

As for 3d, the snake is the three-letter one normally associated with Cleopatra inside a four-letter synonym for 'desire'.

Kind regards,

Caravaggio

You've beaten me to the punch, Charlotte, and we've both used the 'Cleopatra' analogy...

So sorry I have just posted to crossword No 33 instead of No 34 which I had intended. All the difficulty of getting access (explained on site 33) has muddled my brain even more than usual!!

Here I am again, Mondrian.
re 14D it is the name of a Comedy series (one word) First 5 letters is another word for something sweet. Plus a 4-letter word (in the clue) in reverse.
19D I found a bit weird, but it another word for a glass bottle. I am not really sure how I arrived at the answer, so maybe one of the others can have a go. Enjoy your day all

Jazzgirl,
re 19D. It's a 2-letter word of greeting meaning "how are you",inside a 3-letter word for mate (cockney rhyming slang China plate = mate.

The answer to 6D came to me last night just as I was about to log off. It's a word for fortified wines written backwards and means "to be in a bad mood / huff."

So that's me finished!

Hi charlotte
I also finished.. the last one to go in was 6d which is not shown in any of my dictionaries except as a "leather strap" ! There were plenty of references to the adjective with 2 more letters added.
