One to go in today`s Grauniad prize puzzle: "Is it played by Paul & me perhaps, suppressing a little giggle on the road?"

(4, 4) (*I*D *A*E) Any ideas?

A little bit of background about this puzzle.

Biggles is a collaboration between four setters, all named John - John Graham (Araucaria), John Henderson (Enigmatist), John Young (Shed) and John Halpern (Paul). WE Johns was the author of the Biggles books!

This particular puzzle has been set by the first three as a tribute to the fourth, who is getting married to Taline on Sunday 31st July.

John (under his alias of Paul) and Taline are both mentioned in the clues.

Thanks for that interesting snippet Big Dave, I didn't know that about 'Biggles'. The combination of those minds must be the reason I find Biggles crosswords harder than others to get into :-)

I want to get started and usually go for the theme thread. This one doesn't seem to have one
except the wedding connection [that's really interesting] Anyway if I could have the answer to the long one. Would that be cheating? I don't have any letters.
Now I'd suppose union with a handicraft artist...maybe beats writing [2,1,7,6,i,8,5.]
