Mrs Trellis,, there is a way to get to the latest posting on a particular thread. At the top of the screen you have the address bar. If you look at it there is the usual http://www.crosswordsolver.org/forum/ followed by a number which related to the particular thread you are on, in this case 159928/finding-a-thread. Delete the title, but not the whole address, so in this case you would delete the words finding-a-thread, and type the word offset/ followed by the number of posts less one. Then if you click on the arrow at the right of the address bar it will take you to the end of the thread. It looks more complicated than it is, cos if I can do it anyone can!

Being quite new to this forum, I have not yet read celadon's thread, but now having noticed the number of posts, I am quite relieved ! I shall look forward to doing so later !

Jazzgirl, glad you found it useful. I can't really take credit though as I found out how to do it from someone on this site. Sadly can't remember who, but I thank them everytime I want to check out a long thread.

Thank you sallyw, that's certainly better than going through each page of a thread. But what I'd also like to find out is a way of finding a thread (eg Genius 97)without going through all the pages of thread headings. Any ideas?
I've met so many nice people on here already - but where do these ones come from who could start a fight in an empty room?

If you know the name of the thread and type crossword help forum followed by the title you can sometimes find it by using Google search, but it doesn't always work, and is no use if you don't know the exact title of the thread. Ash, who set up the site. did promise a search facility, but so far it hasn't happened. As to your comments regarding certain postees on this site, sadly you get them on all internet forums. They probably wouldn't do it if they didn't have the anonymity of cyberspace to shield them, and are mostly sad little people who should be pitied I guess. I suspect that alcohol may just come into the equation, at least sometimes. Best to ignore them, although I do admit it can be difficult on times. The acronym is DFTT - don't feed the troll.
