I think it probably was a misprint .
portfolio of stocks and shares can hardly be called cash,can it?

I suppose it's theoretically possible to have a portfolio consisting only of cash but it's a bit oblique for my liking; I prefer case.

The first mmeaning of "portfolio" in Chambers is "case"

Yes AJT, thats why I checked it and changed it from cash to case
tonyw was right saying about stocks and shares which could be construed as assets but not really cash, a bit tenuous if the compiler intentionally put cash
