peterm et al I have just realised that I put there instead of their for 37ac which means that you are rigth about disheartened! I can only apologise grovellingy to everyone. I certainly fits the clue better. I'll get my coat!

Many thanks to all of you who replied, Fred, Sally, Des, etc. I have really had a good laugh. I got 18 responses. I too put 'there' instead of 'their', so dishearten is correct. I love this Crossword Help Forum!
