Hello again TommyT. I presume you now know the theme. I was completely ignorant of any of the themed names, but with a bit of googling and some calculated guesses on names, the answers were easy to find. 26dn is the first name (an odd one) of a South African - British composer. She's in Wikipedia.

Can any one explain the wordplay for:

26D addiction vis-a-vis belief in a deity

4D re 16A -- Jules, I assume?

Have the answers. Just don't make sense.

16ac - anagram of never.

4dn: N[ame] on (applied) + anag. of sixteen + CE

Thanks Tony & Peterm.

Had never heard of that term for 28D. Must be close to it. Takes me a whole pot to do the Spec. ;-)

Assume the definition part in 4D is "fancy"
