This as you know is a special day for us delicate flowers.

You could have said "balls up" or "cock up".

Show a bit of sensitivity.

Terry,

Liking your style! you only have about 15 minutes of I.W.D. to go, so hang on in there.

Trevor,

Seriously not getting the "pear shaped" reference, but , then again, us women have smaller brains.

Fanning myself in a very feminine manner.

if something goes tits up or horribly wrong it is said to have gone 'pear shaped'.

'pear shaped' is also descriptive of a certain body type.

Duh...of course!

I think I am not used to you using subtlety!

Your fault obviously, not mine.

Be good,

Mrs Bullfrog made the very valid point that International Women's Day seems to be all about celebrating rich, famous and powerful women, whilst those living in third-world countries are ritually mutilated, gang-raped, forced into arranged marriages, stoned to death for adultery, trafficked into prostitution, and sentenced to death by aids because their church won't let them use condoms. Somehow, I don't think having Annie Lennox guest-edit a special edition of The Observer Magazine will have made much difference to their lives.

And on that cheery note I'm off to bed. The wife had better not have a headache.

Bullfrog,

Yes, unfortunately the Annie Lennox's of this world do grab the headlines...but believe me, there are lots of good things "ordinary women" are doing that you don't hear about.

Tell Mrs Bullfrog to keep the faith.

I agree with Mrs Bullfrog, fine lady that she almost certainly is.
