I second AGEE as "AE" is Scots for one (as in "Ae Fond Kiss") and GE is bits of "Glory Enabled".

Of course that should have been "Gory Elaboration".

I like AGEE. It makes REFUSES WAYS wrong, if I understand the juxtapositions correctly, though it never seemed quite right so all's well.

No, REFUSES WAYS fits with AGEE. In fact, I only solved AGEE after seeing your solution for 11d !

Frustratingly, unless I have made an error (not unknown !), I am now a single letter short of completing 2541.

Can anybody help with 3d (Shakespeare's misfortune with Romeo leaving, gadzooks!) ? I have OAE?

Thanks for that. Something had to be wrong - I had T on the end of 12a (the word meaning 'to eke out', i.e. 'stretch out time' as per the clue) rather than the correct word meaning genuinely or 'really'.

I'll take a look at Azed tomorrow. Let's hope it's easier than last week's !
