DROW also = a troll = an ugly evil-tempered dwarf (Norse myth). Dunno about Orcadian / Orkneys bit.

I think tha it is TROW - (also a small boat) and TROW is a Shetland & Orkney variant of TROLL)

Drow is a scottish word for drizzling mist. Drow is also a word from the Orkneys and Shetland for a troll.
