Thanks for trying to help, but I'm not sure how "Houseleek" could be a place or a dwelling. Could you explain please, or do you have any more ideas.

Preparing to duel (4-2-4)

When preparing to duel, the protagonists stand back-to-back

Though this fits the number of letters, it doesn't seem to be a place name.

thanks Mark and Dizzy. There were many back-to-back houses in this area, though most have been demolished now. So this must be the correct answer.

Please can anyone help with "Our house in north east Australia; such a long way away" (4,4)
It has to be a dwelling of some sort. Not necessarily for humans, could be animals.
