Sorry guys, I'm back after a break. I think I have 6d and 18d but can anyone give me a steer? is P on the mark and is it Z or W? Hope I'm not giving too much away.

I'm also having trouble with 18d. I have the 'I' and the 'P', so I'm assuming its the word derived from the slang for an ineffectual person - but I don't really understand the clue.

Think conventional letter to denote weight, and what you do with 'my little eye...'

Me again.
I now have all but one of the clues.
8a across seems a very weak clue with its allusion to making people laugh - but assuming I've got it right can somebody confirm that the flower at 6d is the one starting with 'P' - and if so why?
7a - I have the two 'A's so who is the king? or am I on the wrong track?
Thanks in advance

the flower in 6d is not a flower but a river, which also flows.

Now I have time I see my two were discussed yesterday around 2 o'clock.

Re 7a, you have the King; you want the boat.

In 7a the king is K as in chess abreviations. This is followed by A and a three letter animal.

Thank you Xfan and Torvic.
Slight delay in my thanks due to some DIY getting in the way of the crossword.
I was on the wrong track with both of these clues but I see them now.
best wishes.
