Thanks Fred. I had BEFORE on the brain for ages but couldn't work the clue esp the bit about money. So I started thinking of minerals but still couldn't work the clue.

BLENDE and LIVERY gave me an E and an N and I suddenly got it: ABEDNEGO. Nice one.
