Hello everyone
Can I start by saying, for the benefit of anyone who has not previously read this weekly thread, that the purpose of it is to help those who are either new to cryptics, or stuck. There are a number of regular contributors and we welcome inputs from anyone who has a sensible contributions to make. I think we have collectively agreed to ignore those who are attempting to be disruptive.

What we attempt to do is not give the answer, but an alternative clue that helps those new to cryptics, and this has been much appreciated.

This week was one of the better ones, and I particularly liked 2d 16a and 13d. Not too keen on 20 which I found obtuse.

Looking forward to hearing what others think

I also liked 2d 16a 13d and I agree that 20 was obtuse. No clue made me laugh out loud.

17d is an anagram of rub plus another word for buzz and the answer is a film director
