I can't get 18ac and it's brought me to a grinding halt. All hints would be very welcome. :-)

I'm also stuck on it - I presume Gin and something (gin being a trap) but really have no idea.

think of a type of trap that is also a drink(first word) and the other two words will be fairly clear

16 across is driving me mad - last one and no idea. Maybe gone wrong elsewhere, but all the other answers seem fine. Any ideas?

Yes, I also think Gin and something but it's the something that's driving me nuts.

Liz: 16ac is another way of saying part exchange. You need a word that means "followers" and put in a couple of notes from the octave scale.

Thank you Tony. I would never have got Italian. Having never heard of a Gin and Italian.

Have you ever heard the term 'Gin & It'? A bit old fashioned now maybe, but the 'it' refers to 'Italian' (vermouth) ~ I always used to think 'Gin & it' was 'Gin & Tonic'.

Yes I have heard of Gin and It. Didn't realise that the It is a shortening of Italian. Thanks! I learned something new today.
