24a (5) cavalry charge prematurely. I've got h---e
18d (5) Aptitude for Latin? Just about. I've got

If it's horse for 24 across (though I don't know why, but cavalry???) then i think I've worked out 'flair' for 18d and Rufus for 17a.

Any advance?
