Don't quite see how you get OVERNICE. I can see VENICE as the Italian city.

This is what I wrote on my blog (bigdave44.com):

"... built from a synonym for about (as in they had a row about the something or other) followed by an Italian city without (not) its first two letters V(ery) and E(nglish)"

The fact that the whole of VENICE is in the answer is a red-herring!

OVERNICE is definitely correct.

If you do Telegraph puzzles online you are informed of any incorrect answers.
