I am sure you are right but Polemist is then inconsistent with 5D
Scorned (9) D?S???N?D, which I think is DISDAINED

Jono, do you really feel that polemist fits the definition of an independent-minded person? It’s a stretch to equate independent-minded with disputatious, surely?

In a contrarian sense perhaps, but agree it was a stretch. I was set on thinking it had to end -ist.
Maverick is much better.
