A fun puzzle from Botox. The preamble makes it look a bit complicated at first but actually it’s a bit of a skoosh.

Jack

Yes enjoying it but not got the theme or names yet. I have the colour which followed by 5,4 seems to lead to a well-known phrase. Certainly a wizard puzzle!

I enjoyed it too, though I felt a little cheated -but that was only because it looked so daunting initially and then was, as Jack says, a bit of a skoosh.

Brendan, a Forum regular, will be happy....

Indeed I am Malone, although for a while I was searching for his song with the theme colour in the title but then noticed a possible synonym of another song in the grid.

There are 2 clues I can't fully parse...

24a - Cleverly admitting immigrants at borders (4)

I can see how the middle 2 letters can come from "immigrants at borders" but then the outer 2 would have to come from "cleverly"?

19d - Dutch excluded from time limit (6)

I've tried adding adding D to the answer in the hope of getting a word for "time" but to no avail.

Just seen 19d so that just leaves...

24a - are the outer 2 letters a Latin abbr.?

I have solved all the clues and have the colour from the joint clues. The other letters from the joint clues could give me a present world leader, but no idea what the name is beginning at 2. A hint would be greatly appreciated.

The 'other letters' person is an anagram of 'a {world leader}'. If you work that out, the name beginning at 2 should become more obvious...

Thanks Malone, but I still don't see it. I thought the name began with "Reginald", but that has got me nowhere. May I have another hint please?
