Just learnt a new piece of crossword jargon fron the fifteensquared site. A Nina is apparently a word or phrase hidden in the solution. Pangakupu always has one in Maori, and the perimeter features one in this puzzle.

BuzzyBee, the term “Nina” is not unique to crosswords, it has come to mean a hidden message in any art form, written or drawn. It stems from the work of American artist Al Hirschfeld, whose daughter’s name was Nina, which he hid in each of his works.
