AZED 2002 ayah does not respond to the word "state" in the clue. MA = Maine

Having slept on it I think amah is preferable too because of state (MA).

We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

I've sent it in as ayah, but now I think it must be amah. As said, Ma for state, and Chambers gives ah as objection. Oh well!
