Finding it really very difficult this week.

7d London venue's porter getting cross - and blame falling on a doctor (9,6)
Alexandra Palace?
Ale = porter, x = corss, and = and, rap = blame, but can't parse the rest.

Some long ones might help:

16a Bury agreement about putting up with different beliefs (19)
The three crossing letters that I've got suggest this might be 'interdenominational', inter=bury but I can't see the rest.

37d Demanding a lounger's callous! (4,2,5)
This might be 'hard as nails' but only if snail can mean lounger, and I don't know that it can.

I think ‘hard as nails’ is correct.

Chambers has…
laggard (noun)
dawdler, loiterer, lingerer, straggler, sluggard, idler, saunterer, *snail*, loafer
colloq. slowcoach, *lounger*

What a stinker this one has been.

Can anyone help with 55a please?

You can take it from me, I do sympathise! (5)

I have T - E - E. The answer looks as though it should be THERE, but I can’t see why. A sympathiser would say “There, there”, but I can’t see how that fits with the clue.
