Peer Review 606

Welcome to our friendly competition to compose a cryptic clue to be judged by your fellow contestants.

You may enter as many clues as you like. Everyone is welcome, particularly new entrants. Feel free to explain your clue, if you think it will help, or to ask another entrant to parse their clue. However, please don't comment on the merit of a particular clue before voting opens. Clues should be posted before 12 noon (UK time) on Friday August 18th, when voting opens. Voting closes at 8 pm (UK time) the same day.

Entrants should vote for their favorite clue, indicating that entrant's name and clue number. The entry with the most votes wins and its composer sets next week's competition. The setter has the deciding vote in the event of a tie. The setter will declare the winner and award an online prize.

DIRAC (5)
or
P. A. M. DIRAC (1,1,1,5) or (3,5) [I'm not sure]

Jumping on the physics bandwagon.
The second (ungainly) option is personal nostalgia, as that's how his name usually appears in footnotes, lists of references, ...

Have fun and good luck!

Future setters should note that a complete list of previously used words on Clueless, Peer Review and Weekend Peer Review is available at https://tinyurl.com/4dzss5np

He baffled Einstein by playing Cardi B without the bass (5)

Einstein wrote "I am toiling over Dirac. This balancing on the dizzying path between genius and madness is awful."

Cardi B is a rapper who was born long after Einstein died, which is only one of the reasons he would have been baffled.
