Normal service resumed after last week’s tribute puzzle. This was a straight forward affair I thought and a fairly quick solve.
“In Yorkshire” always amuses me.

I was held up by 4d after putting the wrong last letter on 15a. Sorted now!

Indeed, the last letter of 15a isn’t clear from the wordplay. 4d is needed to confirm. I actually prefer the ‘wrong’ answer

Inadvertent duplicate thread by Yevrah

Enjoyed today's eventually but had to leave it for a while and return, stuck on NW corner. Usuals, primarily, rhyming pair, hidden, spoonerism (but I felt it was not well clued). COD 16a after I spent some minutes trying to think of a town that would fit. Living near Skipton distracted me for a while. The four letter clues were fun today especially 21d, 23a, 25a.

I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as usual - can't really explain why! The Spooner clue doesn't sit well with me, and like others, I got that last pesky letter in 15a wrong. COD was 19a.

On 15a, doesn't finishing the clue "displaying competence?", rather than simply "competent?", indicate the final letter?

COD 13d, which held me up for ages as I struggle to think laterally, but produced a big grin in the end.

Like Yevrah, I really struggled in the NW corner ... to such an extent that I was sure I wouldn't complete this week. Then (much later) realised that I'd miscounted in the letters in 3d and they were fodder after all.
Agree that 15a doesn't quite work syntactically. Maybe Everyman has found some obscure alternative spelling for the composer - é?
But 13d's a corker!

Found this mainly straightforward but got held up by a few at the end. Pleased I remembered the GK necessary for 23. Not sure I like 26, but an enjoyable start to Sunday.
Thanks Everyman
