Wow, what a difficult one this was!

Have eventually struggled to my last two.

53A Article given in love that behold's removed from wraps? (9)

I can only think it's VALENTINE (which fits the article given in love bit) but I don't see the rest of the clue at all!

48D Mark of separation, after shrinking that remains. (5)

If 53 is VALENTINE then the third letter would be an E, hence THETA?

But why?

Any suggestions?
