Thank you both for reply which obviously correct but can't see where 'caretaker' comes in myself. By the way, IXION was name of Blue Funnel ship which was known in Liverpool as the 'nine-to-one-on'.

In football they have a caretaker manager, which is to is an "acting" manager.

Fit in nurses with opening of sanatorium = HANDSOME

Fit = HANDSOME, and I guess nurses could = HANDS, but what about the sanatorium?!
