Only thing I can think of is that ulula is a type of owl and owls are associated with wisdom, a commodity which is required in this situation, perhaps?
The owl was all I could come up with.
I thought maybe the subject's nickname was 'Grey Owl' or something similar but pure guesswork & will have to rethink!
