Has anyone managed this brute of a crossword?

I have the alternative title and about 75% of the grid entries but need a few heavy hints for 10d ,
41a,& 26d.
Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Rosie, have you thought of signing up for Answerbank? You'd have K to ask there. I don't get the ST - beginning to think I should

Rosie - I am nowhere as near to completion as you and still don't have the alternative title but can say that 41a) is actually straightforward - takek teh first letter of the first two words in the clue, another word for raises (children) and you have a word for something owed! And yes it is a brute of a puzzle!!

Thanks AJT

I think I'll have to do that as it seems no one here does EV.

And quite a few of us do EV Rosie - just not nearly as well as K!!!

PS AJT - you'd probably enjoy EV and then we could consult you about the hard clues xx

I have been onto Answerbank and K has finished this
puzzle (of course) so I will try to get some pointers to help the people here.

Hi. I just thought I'd echo annies' reassurance to rosie that several of us battle with the ev on here. I'm having a nightmare with it this week, again!!
I've not got very far, I've not picked up on the alternative title or the treatment method yet. Any guidance would be lovely.
Many thanks.

It's important that you get the alternative title
which explains how the clues must be treated.
The first four letters (from the first four asterisked clues) will give you the main element
while the next five letters tell you where to make the adjustments.
The first letter comes from standard clueing in 15a & 9d.

Good luck.
