Hi Guys(in a non gender specific sense)

Still struggling to understand the wordplay for 24ac(which I assume is wase) - beginning to suspect this is one of those which is obvious to all but me.

Hi Ixion - I've been searching Chambers to see why g should be few, but it baffles me too. -Unless it means a wispy bit-of eg, and that's the "few" (hardly any, says Chmabers) which will make wages

of/eg/straw minus few leaves groats but g for groat seems tenuous.

I suppose few is a small group(g) - again very tenuous!

On consideration I think it must be referring to the g in eg - not much point in including it otherwise.
