I had HONORARIA,and could see ARIA and perhaps NOR, but what's the significance of moderation?
The only answer I haven't got is 5d: Jock's worn-out from his journey with wretched nag around. I assume that nag is TIT, and I have TR_I_IT. I assume it's Scots.

I wondered if 1a had something to do with the famous song 1a....a choo choo?
4d is a reference to the famous bell - great Tom.
