20 down: You are Snoopy's old-fashioned Father!

I have seen that the answer is priest. How is this 'you are Snoopy's old-fashioned'? I have seen that this is 'pryest'. Is there such a word? If there is, how do know that this rather than priest is the answer? No indication of sounding like.

something to do with an archaic word for being nosey or prying - Im totally guessing here.
"tho doth pryest" sort of thing.

Yes, I suppose "(Thou) pri-est" could be an old-fashioned way of saying "You're snoopy". But I think it's a lousy clue

I wasn't accusing you of writing the clue, Trevor. I was going along with your solution.
