I'm stuck on the bottom left too. Didn't think of stress as this is a reason not an excuse in my book. 24ac is a total mystery. Any clues welcome. Is 28 Everton?

Yes, 28a is Everton - evert = turn out + on

24a Toilet roll - Eliot (backwards) + troll

Any idea on 2 & 3 down please?

I've now worked out the bottom left. 3dn is RARE. Not sure about the anagrams in 2dn Tribolite? Also still missing 15&17.
