Clue 41 relates to a Thomas Hardy novel. The answer needs 9 letters so neither Agatha nor Alleyn fit.

Can I suggest we stick to adding hints rather than giving the whole answer. It is much more fun to struggle yourself to work it out though we all need help at some stage! On that basis any hint for for 16: Famous Bather etc? Thanks
