Just realised I have two missing from above so help appreciated. 14a Writer succeeded with recitation of the "The Seagull" (6) -T-R-E. 27d Unhappy about type
that's run old, old way of trading (4,4) S-L-/R-A-

Sterne didn't write "the seagull" though,it was Anton Checkov.I had to check(of)that,i know sod all about literature.

i know that AJT and Tern sounds like Terne. put an "s" in front (from succeeded )and you have a writer.
