24a)Destroy short book inspired by a long book (7)
Is it Atom(is)e or Atom(iz)e. I get the 'A tome' part, meaning a large heavy book, but can't see where the (is) or (iz) comes from. Can anyone help explain.
I've just read the thread about 4d) Move suddenly close to bus - crash! (6)
I agree with Sprang, eventually! and it is a mistake with the tense. If this is not another mistake by the setter, then what is it?

Cheers Sudokulover.
By the way, did you try the Sudoku puzzle they printed in the Sun a couple of weeks ago. It was meant to be the hardest ever produced and took the guy about 3 months to perfect it. Sudoku isn't my scene really, but my mum is an avid fan, and she showed it me. It looked a tricky character.

Les - didn't see the Sun puzzle - I enjoy the "killer" variety of sudoku where totals of blocks ar given rather than any numbers at the start.
