Does anyone have a view on the last letter of 13?

If I'm not mistaken I believe either an E or an O would work...

Kt, I would go for O as it is seems to be the more common reference on the internet even though Brewer gives both O and E endings. It may be unfair criticism but I always get the feeling that these puzzles are not properly checked for inconsistencies like this.

In Brewer's the one with E is shorter tan necessary for the answer length.

Alwayspuzzled, both versions, the correct length, are in my Brewer's, 19th edition.

Looks as though I need to invest in the latest edition of Brewer's.

Yet another disappointing Doc puzzle, where having the right edition of Brewer seems to be more important than being able to solve clues. I have everything except the middle letter of 15D, which is not in my edition of Brewer and googling is no help. Could anyone put me out of my misery?

Thanks for that. My edition of Brewer misled me about 27A, but I think everything is now OK.
