I wasted a fair bit of time finding that the quotation does not appear in the ODQ 7th edition (2009). I'd actually worked it out by the time I discovered that it makes its debut in the 8th edition (2014) - accessible online.

It is in my fifth edition (1999) but I found it by Googling a group of three obvious unclued answers.

I've wasted a lot of time failing to find the quotation in my 8th edition of ODQ. Fortunately, I knew the song anyway! I do wish that Doc would do his job and edit the crosswords of his minions.

I've got the eighth edition and I too looked in vain. Google came to my rescue.

It seems strange that it has been removed from later editions of OQD.

In fairness to Mr Magoo, it was not at all obscure, nor difficult to find and as Peter suggests exists somewhere in the depths of many of us oldies' consciousnesses anyway!

I rather like the Spectator when it goes 'pop'.

Can someone help me with the theme please

I have quite a few of the unglued lights but I don’t think I have the correct song it refers to.
Thank you

It's a quotation from a song by a duo, one of whom was a polio victim and appeared in a wheel-chair; the other was the pianist. They were at their most popular in the 1950s & 1960s. I'm sure you'll figure it out at the dopr of a hat!

As you'll see from previous posts in this thread, the quotation has been expunged from the the most recent editions of the ODQ but our old friend Google can be helpful.

Just to add to Will37's excellent pointer I found it by grouping three obvious unclued answers together and Googling those as a group. I then confirmed it by going to my antiquated OQD.
