I have: p??t?e.

I'm assuming it's pestle but can't for the life of me figure out why! Can anyone put me out of my misery please?

You use a pestle to grind or pound things in a mortar. Used in chemistry or cookery.

Cheers Harrhy. I know what one is but still can't extract it from the clue. Unless of course they just mean that it's an article that is used by hand to pound things which is probably the case. What'dya think?
