I'm missing three words.
3D: Leader lost, assents to early flight (5)
GR_ES
8D: Queen in head (Victoria's) fraudulent (5)
C_ON_
11A: This peg one's hammered in upper regions? (4)
R__P
Also, I have 12D but don't get the RIC at the end. How does this relate to "fine"?

That's what I assumed, but what's GREES? I don't get the connection to flight.

Thanks. The OED has grees as grass, so I was wondering whether flight was some species of it.

I took it that 'Victoria' was to signify an Australian word - CRONK for fraudulent.
