On reading the threads 3d) Finished second, then first (4) S--- . And 9a) My! French fashion reaches a town in Italy (7) C-R---A .I get the Cor, from MY! and the final A, But please explain how Ton is got from French fashion, because I got Sist for 3d, S=Second and 1st=First, Sist meaning to stop. But I still can't muster an answer for the town in Italy.. What do you guys think?

any reason why 3d would be French?
Stop could be the answer. S TOP
Finished = stop is a bit thin,maybe refers to a tele/cable gram.

Hi Trevor - S for second, and "first" is top - first in an exam - top of the class

It is the "Finished = stop"
bit that i have a problem with.
A telegram is the only way i can square it,stop.(ie - full stop,period)
Any better ideas?
