Can someone please explain to me the solutions for 14a "Hold son?" for which I have "half person" and 18a "Fruit and veg left at end of dinner" for which I have "pear"? Thanks

The first is half nelson - son is half of the word nelson, and a half nelson is a hold in wrestling

I made it pear:- end of dinner - r, and veg at the left - pea, but I thought it was a clumsily constructed clue

Thanks very much, AJT and Trevor -- I should have understood the pear, but my mind wasn't thinking along wrestling lines.
