Hi Markymark

Your comment made me realise that whilst I had heard of it I hadn't a clue what it is. It must have been the one music lesson I stayed awake in when I was at school. Anyway I thought I'd look it up. This is it what it is:

A system of notation that is based on relationships between tones in a key and that replaces the usual staff notation with solmization syllables, such as do, re, and mi, or their abbreviations.

Now aren't we both the wiser for that!

that song from The Sound Of Music called "Do-Re-Mi" uses/teaches the notes from a Major scale using sol fa.
do - a deer a female deer
ray - a drop of golden sun
mi - a name I call myself
fa - a long, long way to run
so - a needle pulling thread
la - a note to follow so
ti - a drink with jam and bread
that will bring us back to do do do do etc
