I'm stuck on the last one in this week's Azed puzzle:

34d Ancient bondsman cutting husband's elaborate hairdo (4)

I have: TET?

Gentle hints gratefully received, thanks.

Remove ('cut') a one-letter abbreviation for 'husband' from the second position in a five-letter word for a serf in Ancient Greece to produce an obsolete word for an 'elaborately dressed head of hair',

Thanks Jacknatter; the old greek term is a new or forgotten one for me, and for some reason I completely missed linking the definition for the answer word in my Chambers and the defintion word in the clue... doh!
