Hello, Brendan.
This baffled me, too.
But "it follows" is "so", and Chambers gives "use" under "good" although I can not see why that should be.
I have "souse", too.

Excellent, many thanks Rusty - I've just checked my new Chambers app, and you're right, 'Use' is listed as a noun under 'Good'.

As in “is their centre forward any use/good”?

Hi rusty/Brendan. My best attempt to clarify would be Chambers use² ; an advantageous purpose for which a thing can be used
and
To the good.
