I think the second one is WAYMARKS. Still thinking about the first one.

I suspect the middle letter may be wrong in the first one as I think the answer is IAMBS.

Thanks, John(from Arran). I'd never have got those last two without you. You were right in that I'd got one of the letters wrong in 1 down. I've now finished the crossword if anyone else needs any help.

I think 50 across is euphemistic, and 41 down is supplies.

I'm having trouble with 52 ac Pestering, and 48dn something providing excitement

I got chivvying for pestering and spice for something providing excitement.

Hmmm, either IAMBS or ICTUS could fit as they are both terms for a metrical stress. It really depends on which third letter matches better with the appropriate across clue.
