As usual, I've ground to a halt after a promising start. I have the message from the Across clues (albeit not having solved them all by any means), but it will have to wait to be implemented.

I think I have the first word of the Downs message, which led me to think of a famous poem by a famous poet, but the second word isn't appearing.

Overall, I've got quite a lot of the NW corner, but not much else. Is 1Down entered jumbled? Hints on 6ac and 19ac would be welcome.

6ac extra word is ingredient. Definition is cordial as in flavour.

19ac extra word is Democrat. Bookkeeper think lots of books. Rare word for coastal.

Thanks, Smartie. I'd guessed the structure of 6ac, but still not solved. I like 19ac.

Is the poem from the Dn clues one of a well known collection, which was my original suspicion?

Solved all of this puzzle but despite having a full finished grid i can't work out the answer for 44A....Any hints, anyone?

The original answer is imperia, with hell as the extra word. It changes when you follow the across clue instruction.
Could someone help me with 32 across please?

Extra word is Swiss. Check "high church" and "sharp point" - same resultant word.
